Can I replace an electrical outlet myself safely and correctly?

You can replace a standard outlet if you cut power and wire it correctly, but code and shock risks make a licensed electrician the safer choice. We install GFCI, USB, and tamper‑resistant receptacles and can upgrade two‑prong to grounded three‑prong. Use GFCIs in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, outdoors, basements, and near sinks; test monthly and after outages.

  • Plug in a lamp and turn it on.
  • Press TEST; light should go out.
  • Press RESET; light should return.
