Can an air purifier be repaired if the UV bulb stops working?

Yes—most in-duct UV air purifiers can be repaired by replacing the failed UV bulb. The usual cause is a spent lamp because UV intensity drops well before a visible burn‑out. Many systems also benefit from a quick cleaning of the lamp area and a check of the power supply or safety switch to restore operation. Brothers Plumbing, Heating, and Electric services and replaces in-duct UV lamps as part of our indoor air quality program, using hospital‑style shortwave UV technology.

Consider these repair-versus-replace signals:

• New bulb works after cleaning the quartz sleeve: simple repair
• New bulb doesn’t light: diagnose ballast, wiring, or door interlock
• Broken sleeve, melted socket, or cracked housing: replace the assembly
• Recurrent failures from moisture or heat: evaluate placement and ventilation

We service UV systems across the Denver metro, including Brighton, based on real home conditions rather than brand alone. Always shut off HVAC power and avoid looking at a lit UV lamp; a technician can test it safely.
